Fire Beds are difficult to find and are often custom built. Triangular shapes or abstract angular designs are usually the most common. You can't build with fire although an illuminated bed or one that was electrically wired to a significant degree would be considered very similar. Its worth noting that electronic energies produce emf fields and aren't ideal to sleep next to. Leather headboards are a good solution and since these are usually square the fire nourishes the earth energy in the design. A metal shape would create a forge efect and is likely to be quite dangerous. The easiest way to bring fire in an overt way into the room is to use a fiery bedspread. Animal prints, red bedspreads and leather or simulated leather are all fire oriented. Bedspreads with triangle patterns would also qualify. A full on fire bed would be hot, passionate and would bring a lot of intensity into the bedroom, and make rest difficult. Too much fire in the bedroom can be very intense but can also create a lot of quarrels and dynamic tension between partners. Fiery relationships are not for everyone. |

Metal headboards tend to create a lot of yang energy and usually have open spaces in the back. While these may look pleasing to some, open headboards do not provide the solid backing that feng shui suggests. Headboards with square rods tend to create sharp angles which are generally undesireable. If you feel that a metal headboard works best for your room, you may prefer to look at the shape and coloration over the materials, or use a metal frame and an alternate headboard style. |

When the bed is in its native area, the fit is natural and doesn't invoke complex interactions of elements. Be watchful of any signs of surplus chi energy of that type in your life and tone it down if necessary, as the effect of stacking too much of an element can have extreme effects. |

When the bed supports the area it is located in, the natural element of the room itself gains strength. It may be adviseable to support the bed with some replenishing energy appropriate to its element. A colored pillow is a common method of bringing in a small amount of supportive energy to balance the cycle. Since the supporting energy will clash with the area itself, use on/in the bed with a light touch. Sheets work well for this purpose as they are usually hidden from view and are on the bed itself. Painting on the rails on the underside of the bed can also be a powerful and subtle way to recharge. |

* Water features, particularly strong ones are not considered ideal for the wealth area in the bedroom, or generally in the bedroom unless very well balanced. Use a lot of wood to support this if you want to go this route, as the wood will help the bedroom from becoming too yin. Use water carefully in bedroom. |

When placed in one of these areas, the bed will draw strength from the room. The natural energies of the room will be toned down somewhat as a result of this, however. For example, a fire bed placed in the health and family area will be prominent and draw fuel from the energies of the area as wood fuels fire. The health and family area itself however will potentially over exerted (as in this process the fire consumes wood) and should be replenished by some water features, perhaps a piece of art with wavy lines. The supporting element should be placed in the area, somewhere besides the bed to avoid a direct clash with the beds natural fire energies, in this instance. If water energy is not present in the area then the persons health may suffer, perhaps from fiery over exertion. |

Using a bed in an area where there are clashes involved is risky and particular care should be made to balance the elements if an alternative location cannot be found. Inexpensive measures which can change the dominant character of the bed include changing the beadspread or finding a top cover which suits the room better. In general direct clashes are undesireable and should be avoided. If the situation makes this impossible to attain, then the room can be balanced by using subduing elements. A strong presence of all five elements may be the best attainable result in this situation and will help the room attain equilibrium. |
